Trace Deleon, CrossFit Unlocked
When I was 13, my parents decided that I needed to join CrossFit to get in shape for school sports. I was not interested in being pushed to my physical limitations -- I was just a kid. I thought to myself "why should I be doing this?" What I didn't realize at the time was that a life changing experience was before me. I have gained not only physical strength, endurance, and all the other domains of CrossFit, but I have created relationships with people I would have never known -- people that have changed my life and molded my character. Something I disliked at such a young age has become my passion as I have grown and matured along with it. I've been CrossFit-ing (is that a verb??) since that age and have done nothing but improved--mentally, physically, and socially. CrossFit has provided me with a platform to make new encounters with my peers and strangers and try to turn them into CrossFit enthusiasts like I am now-- not only for the physical benefits, but so they can make the personal connections that have become so important to me. Along with this ability I have to bring people together, I also have become mentally and physically fit for life. All of this together has made me a better person as well as a better athlete. CrossFit has changed my life and I thank it for that, and now as a Level 1 Trainer at the age of 17, I want to help change others.
